    Join us Tuesday to hear from Joe Hale, the President of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum.

    In April, after being closed for nearly 18 months, the IMS Museum will reopen with a stunning new layout and design. The $89 million renovation includes more immersive exhibits and experiences, along with exciting new activities and displays that cater to visitors of all ages and interests, not just racing fans. The museum’s transformation also added 40,000 square feet of additional exhibit and experience space, making it bigger and better than ever.

    Joe will be sharing exclusive images and details about this incredible overhaul, including the museum’s new STEAM classroom and the addition of a full-time education director. These initiatives will help introduce students from across Indiana to the exciting science and career opportunities linked to the racing industry.

    Join us Tuesday to hear from Brian Stemme the CEO of the Hoosier Cancer Research Network (HCRN). A recognized leader in Indiana’s life sciences sector, Brian brings extensive expertise in cancer research and development, spanning academia, pharma/biotech, and contract research organizations.

    Prior to HCRN, he was Senior VP for BioCrossroads, where he played a pivotal role in attracting major investments to Indiana, including the recruitment of Abbott Cardiovascular and Express Scripts. Brian also co-founded AgriNovus Indiana and led early-stage efforts for the 16 Tech Innovation District. Under his leadership, HCRN advances cutting-edge oncology trials, collaborating with top institutions to bring innovative treatments to patients.

    Brian will share with us the life-changing and important work which is being done on the northwest side of Indy but impacting lives around the world.

Pretty Passionate Hands is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting, mentoring, and guiding teen mothers and fathers. The organization focuses on providing financial awareness through educational workshops, offering village support, and mentoring youth and families. Their programs aim to remove barriers that prevent youth and families in the community from achieving their personal life goals. They envision a community where families are fully supported, creating a positive environment for each family, one child at a time.

    January 21: Najia Sherzad Hoshmand

    Join us Tuesday to hear from Najia Sherzad Hoshmand, a dynamic community leader dedicated to supporting and uplifting the Afghan community. With a wealth of experience in business, finance, and community advocacy, Najia has been an influential force both in Afghanistan and in Indiana.

    Najia is the Founder and President of the Afghanistan American Community Center (AACC), a non-profit organization established to empower and elevate Afghan Americans. In addition to her role with AACC, she serves as the Director of Refugee Resettlement with Patchwork Indy and a Community Liaison with Welcome Corps, a federal refugee resettlement program. In these positions, she plays a key role in mobilizing sponsorship groups and providing essential support to refugees as they settle into their new lives.

    Before embarking on her journey in the United States, Najia held significant roles in Afghanistan, where she worked for both international organizations and government agencies. She was instrumental in supporting the Afghan government and the U.S. mission in Afghanistan as they worked to rebuild the country. Her commitment to women’s empowerment is especially notable, as she has contributed to various initiatives aimed at promoting the rights and opportunities of women. Notably, she was appointed the first woman to an executive position at the Central Bank of Afghanistan, serving from 2015 to 2017.

    Fluent in five languages, Najia’s passion for helping others extends beyond her professional work. She has been actively involved in volunteering for the Afghan community in Indiana, particularly as a representative for 280 women and children at Camp Atterbury after her family’s resettlement to the U.S. in 2021.

    Najia holds a bachelor’s in business from Delhi, India, an MBA from Dunya University in Kabul, and a second MBA from Kelley School of Business at IUPUI. Her leadership is shaping the future of the Afghan community in Indianapolis, as she builds strong networks and advocates for new opportunities.
