  • Rotarians Beautify the Grounds at ISBVI

Rotarians Beautify the Grounds at ISBVI

The Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (INSBVI) has been a favorite nonprofit for Rotarians who are willing to work hard outside! On Saturday, June 10, 8 Rotarians and 3 guests helped beautify INSBVI’s property that adjoins the Monon Trail; several runners and walkers said thank you!  We trimmed shrubs, pulled vines and weeds, and weedwacked so mulch could be spread at a later date.

Another project involved raking leaves and clearing weeds and poison ivy (yikes!) from a contained area. Elizabeth Garvey, the INSBVI horticulturist, was so thankful and said how great both of the areas looked!

Finally, several Rotarians pulled the dreaded thistle that was growing in the playground, ouch!

Thanks to all for their efforts!  Rotarians included: Tom Fodor, Stacy Johnson, Bruce Glor, Marie Koenig, Edie Collings, Larita Killian, Charlie Meyer, and Monica Peterson. Guests were: Rob Smith, Allison Meyer, and Gary Koenig.
  • June 13: Dr. Peter Bustamante

Join us Tuesday to hear from Dr. Peter Bustamante the Regional Chief Medical Officer for Ascension St. Vincent North Region. Dr. Bustamante will share about the history of Ascension, their statewide ministry in Indiana and their College of Healthcare Professionals.

Dr. Peter Bustamante was born and raised the youngest of ten just outside Detroit, Michigan. He obtained his Bachelor degree from Indiana University (IU), Masters from Loyola University of Chicago and Doctor of Medicine from Saint Louis University.

In 2003, he returned to Indiana for Internal Medicine training at St. Vincent Hospital and subsequent nephrology fellowship at IU. He became a certified interventional nephrologist before joining a large single-specialty group in Indianapolis.

Always entrepreneurial in spirit, he struck out to start a general and interventional nephrology practice and subsequently founded a second private practice focusing on post-acute care.

In 2018, he became the Regional Chief Medical Officer for Ascension St. Vincent North Region and currently serves four ministries in Anderson, Carmel, Fishers and Kokomo. In this role, he strives to live out the Ascension Mission. He leads and collaborates with many high-functioning multidisciplinary teams and is a champion for clinical effectiveness, process variation reduction, quality and patient safety. Throughout his training and career, Dr. Bustamante has been blessed to work across the entire continuum of healthcare and experience many different delivery models. He has always maintained his clinical practice to connect with and serve the individual person with kidney disease and hypertension.
