  • August 15: Theresa Brun

    August 15: Theresa Brun

Join us Tuesday to hear from Theresa Brun the Executive Director of Brooke’s Place.

In 1999 Pam Wright, a licensed mental health counselor, noticed a need in central Indiana for an ongoing community support program for children grieving for a loved one. With a group of colleagues, Wright founded Brooke’s Place, named after a resilient young lady who lost her father in a plane crash when she was just 13.

The organization has provided grief support for youth ages 3 – 29 and their families throughout the last 20 years. The program revolves around the understanding that children grieve differently than adults, and need support tailored to their needs.

1 in 11 children in Indiana will experience the death of a parent or sibling by age 18, Brooke’s Place strives to create a community where every young person living with grief feels safe, supported, and understood during their personal grief journey.

Theresa Brun joined Brooke’s Place as Executive Director in December, 2015, bringing over 20 years of non-profit experience and a passion for healthcare and serving children. Her previous non-profit management experience included serving as Executive Director of the Indiana Blind Children’s Foundation, Chapter President for the National MS Society, and Vice President of Professional Services for the American Cancer Society. Additionally, she gained experience in the for-profit arena, serving for 8 years as the Senior Director of Client Services for Physicians World. Theresa has a degree in communications/public relations from the University of Dayton, and recently completed her certificate in fundraising management from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at the IUPUI Fundraising School.
