    The Rotary Club of Indianapolis welcomes Bryan Bedford, President & CEO,
    Republic Airways

    Bryan Bedford has more than 30 years of experience in the airline industry. He joined Republic in July 1999 as president and CEO. Previously, he served as president and CEO of Mesaba Holdings, Inc. in Minneapolis, as well as Business Express Airlines, Inc. in Boston. During his years at the helm of Republic, the airline has grown from $85 million in revenues and 36 turboprop aircraft to more than $1.3 billion in revenues and an operating fleet of nearly 200 jet aircraft.

    In 1997 and 2004, Regional Airline World named him Airline Executive of the Year. In 2009, he received the same honor from Airline Business. In 1998, the Minneapolis Business Journal named Mr. Bedford to its 40 under 40 list, and in 2000 The Indianapolis Business Journal named him to their 40 under 40 list. Mr. Bedford earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from Florida State University and was a certified public accountant. Mr. Bedford holds commercial, multi-engine and instrument pilot ratings.

  • November 26: Greg McCauley

    The Rotary Club of Indianapolis welcomes Greg McCauley, Executive Director & CEO, Link Obsevatory Space Science Institute

    Greg McCauley is the Executive Director, CEO and co-founder of the Link Observatory Space Science Institute. In the early 1970’s, Greg worked for NASA at the Manned Spacecraft Center (now Johnson Space Center) in Houston, Texas in the Mission Planning and Analysis Division for the lunar missions of Apollo 15 and 16, and was a member of the Lunar Launch Team for Apollo 17.

    Greg is the former CEO of Advanced Imaging, Inc, an Indianapolis based national medical imaging and consulting firm. He serves as a Solar System Ambassador for NASA/JPL and lectures throughout central Indiana on planetary exploration. Greg is a professional science communicator and member of the Indiana Astronomical Society where he spent three years on the Board of Directors. Join us next week as Greg talks with us about the Mission to Mars.

    The Rotary Club of Indianapolis welcomes Abdul-Hakim Shabazz for a Post-Election Podcast with Joey Fox, Lindsey Shipps and Brad Klopfenstein

    Join us on Tuesday for Abdul-Hakim Shabazz and a post-election podcast recording with Republican Joey Fox, Democrat Lindsey Shipps and Libertarian Brad Klopfenstein.

    Abdul has been covering and writing about state and local government in Indiana since 2004. Overall, he has more than 20 years of experience in writing and talking about the issues that affect real people. He writes for the Indianapolis Star, WIBC.com, NUVO Newsweekly, and TheStatehouseFile.com. He’s also a frequent panelist and contributor to RTV6’s Indianapolis This Week and Inside Indiana Business. Abdul is the editor and publisher of IndyPolitcis.org, which has been recognized by the Washington Post two years in a row as one of the best political blogs in the nation.

  • November 12: General Stewart Goodwin

    Thank You Rotary Club of Indianapolis Veterans

    Join us for a special program next Tuesday at 12:10 p.m. as we feature our Rotary Club of Indianapolis Veterans. We will thank our Veterans for their service and WWII Veterans will be honored. JROTC of Shortridge will present the colors. General J. Stewart Goodwin, Executive Director of the Indiana War Memorials Commission will share the importance of Veterans Day, the new Veteran’s Center, and the year-round lighting of the Soldier’s and Sailor’s Monument. The Commission operates 25 acres of property in the downtown area consisting of multiple monuments honoring Hoosier Veterans and visited by over one million people annually. General Goodwin has served in all three components of the U.S. Air Force: Active, Reserve, and Guard. He retired from the U.S. Air Force with 37 years of service, named a Sagamore of the Wabash, and inducted into the Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame in 2018.

    David Marbaugh, Director of Corporate Responsibility Communications at Eli Lilly and Company and the Lilly Foundation, is our speaker, November 5. He will provide a window into Lilly’s commitments to research and the delivery of medicines that improve health for millions of people around the world.

    With over 22 years of experience working at Lilly as a writer for leadership, developer of marketing tools for products and leading projects for employee volunteer engagement, Marbaugh knows the organization and its mission.

    Join fellow Rotarians as we learn how Eli Lilly and Company works to improve cooperation with non-profits and the public sector to address some the of most challenging issues facing our communities locally and globally.

    The Rotary Club of Indianapolis welcomes Mayor of Indianapolis Joe Hogsett

    Mayor Joe Hogsett will be our special guest speaker on Tuesday as everyone prepares for next month’s election for the Indianapolis Mayor’s Race.

    Mayor Joe Hogsett is the 49th Mayor of the City of Indianapolis, committed to creating a city where prosperity and opportunity are attainable for all. During Mayor Hogsett’s time in office, he has lifted the city’s 35-year moratorium on new streetlights, returned IMPD to a community-based policing model and created Indianapolis’ first comprehensive youth summer employment plan. By focusing on neighborhood development, public safety, infrastructure investments and the fiscal well-being of our city, he is dedicated to moving Indianapolis forward while uplifting all residents.

    The Rotary Club of Indianapolis welcomes Senator Jim Merritt, Mayoral Candidate for the City of Indianapolis

    Senator Jim Merritt will be our special guest speaker on Tuesday as everyone prepares for next month’s election for the Indianapolis Mayor’s Race.

    Senator Jim Merritt was born in Indianapolis and resides in Lawrence Township. Jim graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. He is the proud father of three adult children and one granddaughter.
    Jim served as President of Circle Financial Corporation and Vice President of the Indiana Railroad Company. Currently he serves as President of JWM Consulting Corporation.

    Jim Merritt has devoted the majority of his adult life to public service. At the age of 31, he was the youngest member ever elected to the state senate, up to that point. Since 1991, he has represented District 31.

    In the State Senate, Senator Merritt serves as the Majority Caucus Chair. Also, Senator Merritt serves as a majority member of the following committees: Commerce and Technology, Homeland Security and Transportation, Veterans Affairs and the Military, Joint Rules, Public Policy, Rules and Legislative Procedure and the Utilities Committee which he Chairs.

    Merritt was elected Chair of the Marion County Republican Party in March of 2017. He resigned that position in December of 2018 and announced his candidacy for Mayor of Indianapolis in January 2019.

    The Rotary Club of Indianapolis welcomes Jennifer Magley, Speaker, Former Professional Athlete, NCAA Division I Coach & Entrepreneur!

    Join us on Tuesday to hear from Jennifer Magley and what it takes to be a champion. Jennifer is a speaker, former professional athlete, NCAA Division I head coach, entrepreneur, and owner of Open Gym. She has received national media coverage from USA Today, ESPN and The Indianapolis Star among others. Currently Jennifer is a Make-A-Wish® America Honoree and Board Member with The Patachou Foundation and Coburn Place.

    A Kansas native and former standout student-athlete, Jennifer is a proud IMG Sports Academy Alumni and University of Florida graduate. While at University of Florida, she was the #1 Ranked NCAA Division I Singles player in the country, NCAA Team Champion, Four-time All-American, First Team ESPN The Magazine, Finalist for the Honda Award and recipient of the Arthur Ashe Jr., Sports Scholar, and SEC Good Works awards. As a member of TEAM USA, Jennifer represented the United States in over 14 countries.

    Post graduation she competed professionally on the WTA Tour before being named Associate Head Coach at Wichita State University. At 23, she was the youngest NCAA Division I head coach in the nation at Florida Gulf Coast University.

    In February 2014, Jennifer’s debut novel “Division I” was released spotlighting issues that effect female collegiate athletes.

    The Rotary Club of Indianapolis welcomes John Trupus, Director, Underground Engineering & Construction Group, Citizens Energy Group

    Join us on Tuesday to learn about the DigIndy Tunnel System. It’s a 28-mile long network of deep rock tunnels being built 250 feet beneath the city. The $2 billion program is Indy’s solution to reducing combined sewer overflows into area waterways by up to 97 percent.

    John Trypus the Director of Underground Engineering and Construction at Citizens Energy will be our guest speaker. John has 25 years of experience in planning, design and construction of utility projects. In his role within Citizens, he oversees capital work associated with the water distribution and wastewater collection systems, as well as Citizen’s DigIndy Tunnel Program. Johns holds a bachelors of science in geology from the University of South Florida and an MBA from The John Hopkins University, Carey Business School.
