    March 3: 2020 Campaign Day

    Back in December, a Nominating Committee made up of almost 20 tenured and engaged Rotarians met to discuss who they thought would make good board members. From this list of possible board members, individuals were contacted and asked if they wanted to run for the board. A slate of 7 members will be presented and 7 will be elected to represent Rotary on the Board of Directors.

    Those 7 people running for the Board of Directors will present for 3-5 minutes each on Tuesday, March 3. For more information about the candidates, please click here.

    Any Rotarian who is current on their dues can vote for up to 7 board members on March 10.  Absentee (email) ballots will be available beginning on March 3 as well. (instructions forthcoming on that- watch your email inboxes.)

    On Tuesday, March 12, 2019 the Rotary Club of Indianapolis elected eight members to serve on the Board of Directors for two years, beginning on July 1, 2019. We are pleased to welcome the following community leaders to serve our club in leadership positions.

    March 5: 2019 Hubs and Spokes, Presentation of Candidates

    Back in November, a Nominating Committee made up of almost 20 tenured & engaged Rotarians met to discuss who they think would make good board members. From this list of possible board members, individuals were contacted and asked if they wanted to run for the board- 14 members said yes, eight will be elected to represent Rotary on the Board of Directors.

    Those 14 people running for the Board of Directors have been divided up into two teams- the “Hubs” and “Spokes.” (A play on the Rotary gear that is our logo.)  Each team will present for 15 minutes on Tuesday, March 5 to showcase candidates.     Any Rotarian who is current on their dues can vote for up to 8 board members on March 12.  Absentee (email) ballots will be available beginning on March 5 as well. (instructions forthcoming on that- watch your email inboxes.) You DO NOT have to vote strictly along “Hubs” and “Spokes” lines- you can pick and choose any eight individuals from the list of 14.

    2019-2020 Officer Elections

    In December, the Rotary Club of Indianapolis Board of Directors met to elect new officers for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

    Jenny Dexter was elected to serve as Secretary of the Rotary Club of Indianapolis. Dexter is the Director of Business Development at Matchbook Creative and has extensive experience in the areas of brand, marketing and communication strategy.  Dexter recently served as Co Chair of the Rotary Club of Indianapolis’ Indy Do Day initiative in 2017 and 2018 and currently leads as Chair of the Indiana Board of Directors for Playworks Indiana.  As Secretary, Jenny will eventually rise to serve as President of the Club in 2021-22.  Until then, she’ll serve in various roles on the Executive Committee and continue to support the Club on strategic, growth and operational fronts. 

    The Rotary Club of Indianapolis is also proud to announce that Norm Melzer was elected as Sergeant of Arms.  Melzer retired from Priority Press, where his primary responsibilities included quality management and account management.  Melzer will bring strong skills of organization and process improvement during his tenure as Sergeant at Arms and we look forward to seeing him serve at Tuesday meetings each week.

    March 13: Board of Directors Election

    As Club Secretary, I am excited to announce the official start of the Rotary Club of Indianapolis Board of Directors election process. On March 13 we will elect seven new directors who will serve a two year term. Candidate info forms are available for review by clicking here.

    Rotary members in good standing are eligible to vote via absentee ballot or in person on March 13.  Download the Absentee Ballot here.

    Completed forms can be emailed to Kelly Tingle. You can also email the names of the seven individuals you choose to Kelly Tingle. It is important that you identify yourself in that email or your vote will not count. Absentee voting must be complete by 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13.

    Our Board of Directors helps set the tone, vision and even character of our club for years to come. Thank you in advance for participating in the election and ensuring we have continued outstanding leadership.

    The officers of the Rotary Club of Indianapolis are President, President Elect, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and the Sergeant-at-Arms, the Board of Directors, “Board”, consist of fifteen (15) members of the Club.

    The elective officers, who are not elected Directors, become ex officio members of the Board during tenure of office, with the right to vote. The immediate Past President is an ex officio member of the Board with the right to vote for the year following his term in office.

    Eight Directors are elected in odd numbered years and seven Directors are elected in even numbered years. Directors are elected for a term of two years and shall hold office until the adjournment of the annual meeting at which their respective terms expire, and/or until their successors are elected and qualified.
