November 29: Katie Smardo, Rotary District 6560 Governor
Each year, our club invites our Rotary District Governor to present to the club to share their vision and goals for supporting and growing the clubs around our Districct. On Tuesday, District Governor Katie Smardo will join us. Katie has been a Rotarian since 2003 and it is believed she might be the youngest District Governor in Distirct 6560’s history.
Her message on Tuesday will be inspirational for all, but will also focus on the future of Rotary and how we can continuosly engage more young professionals. She has said, “We need more willing hands, more caring hearts, and more bright minds to move our work forward. We need clubs that are flexible, so Rotary service will be attractive to younger members and recent retirees and working people. We need to seek out new partnerships, opening ourselves more to collaborative relationships with other organizations, to achieve even more together.” It should be an inspiring conversation and opportunity, we hope you’ll join us.
Katie is a Vice President and Corporate Banking Officer with the National Bank of Indianapolis, where she puts 15 years of experience in commercial banking and treasury management to use. Katie is also active in her community. She serves on the Advisory Board for the United Way of Hamilton County and a member of the Board of Directors for OneZone Commerce (combined chambers for Carmel and Fishes. In 2014 she was awarded the Carmel Chamber Young Professional of the Year and in 2015 she was recognized as Best & Brightest in her industry in Central Indiana by Junior Achievement. Katie is a graduate of the Krannert School of Management from Purdue University earning her bachelor’s degree in 2001.
