May 28: Memorial Day Program with Carly Smith

By on May 24, 2024
The History Committee is honored to bring to you a Memorial Day program to honor our fallen heroes, give you an opportunity to show your respects, and hear about an Indiana program for families of fallen soldiers.

Carly Smith with the Indiana National Guard’s Survivor Outreach Services will join us on Tuesday. Carly received her Bachelors in Social Work and a Certificate in Case Management from Indiana University in 2003. She has been a Survivor Outreach Services (SOS) Coordinator within the Indiana National Guard for the last fourteen years since the program’s inception. She was one of the original SOS’s nationwide who helped to build the program from the ground up. In her role as an SOS Coordinator, she has a created a weekend retreat called STARR – Survivor Transition & Resilience Retreat for the families of our Fallen. Prior to her SOS role she served as the State Youth Coordinator within the Guard as well and developed programming to prepare children for the deployment/reunion of their Service Member. Prior to working with the Military population, she spent eleven years on the civilian side working in business development with VisitIndy and doing business marketing research with the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.

Before our program (10:45-11:45 a.m.), please join the History Committee in putting together bouquets to go on the graves of our soldiers at Crown Hill. Please wear your patriotic colors for Tuesday’s program.

All are welcome at Rotary programs. If attending in-person at the Murat Shrine reservations and prepayment are appreciated, but not required. Register on Square at https://rotary-club-of-indianapolis.square.site/. If registering on site we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
