| Join us Tuesday to hear from Cullen McCarty the Executive Vice President and fifth generation owner of Smithville Communications based in Ellettsville, Indiana. Smithville is the state’s largest privately held rural telecom company, serving over twenty counties in central and southern Indiana. A recognized industry veteran, Cullen has been an advocate for insuring competitive and robust broadband, particularly for rural areas of the United States for over twenty years. He regularly works with members of Congress and staffers to promote positive policy development. Cullen currently serves on the Government Affairs Committee of the Indiana Broadband and Technology Association. On a local level, he is a member of the Monroe County Redevelopment Commission; the Greene County Economic Development Corporation Housing Committee; and is helping shepherd strategic relationships with Smithville’s local Rural Electric Membership Cooperatives. A lifelong Hoosier, Cullen has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University and resides in rural Monroe County with his wife Rachel and their two children. All are welcome at Rotary programs. If attending in-person at Ivy Tech Culinary and Conference Center reservations and prepayment are appreciated, but not required.
