February 5: Dr. Lynda Bonewald, Indiana Center for Musculoskeletal Health
Dr.
Lynda Bonewald is an internationally recognized scientific and academic leader
in bone research and is the founding director of the Indiana Center for
Musculoskeletal Health at Indiana University School of Medicine. She has
developed a 10-year strategic plan for the Center to advance musculoskeletal
research leading to improved treatment of patients with musculoskeletal
diseases and disorders.
Dr. Bonewald received her doctorate in immunology/microbiology from the Medical
University of South Carolina. She has served as president of the Association of
Biomolecular Resource Facilities and president of the American Society for Bone
and Mineral Research. Dr. Bonewald has been chair and scientific councilor for
the National Institute of Dental Craniofacial Research intramural program at
the National Institutes of Health, and has served on Council for the National
Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases at the National
Institutes of Health.
Dr. Bonewald’s presentation will provide an overview of some of the most
exciting musculoskeletal research happening right here in Indianapolis and a
few things to come, thanks to the efforts of scientists affiliated with the new
Indiana Center for Musculoskeletal Health. She will also describe a few easy
changes you can make to improve your own musculoskeletal health and why it
matters.
