May 23: Rotary Welcomes Donald Sefcik, Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine
The Rotary Club of Indianapolis is excited to welcome Dr. Donald Sefcik to Rotary. Dr. Sefcik is the Dean at the Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Just a few weeks ago,133 students from the school’s inaugural class received doctorates of osteopathic medicine, marking the first time a future doctor will graduate from a medical school in Indiana other than Indiana University School of Medicine.
Prior to joining Marian University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine on March 1, 2016, Donald Sefcik, D.O., M.B.A., served as the senior associate dean at the Michigan State University (MSU) College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) from December 2007 – February 2016. Before joining the COM at MSU, Dr. Sefcik was the associate dean at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM) at Midwestern University, where he also served time as its assistant dean for clinical sciences and the chairperson of the family medicine department.
A 1985 graduate of CCOM, Dr. Sefcik holds the B.S. in pharmacy and M.S. in pharmacology from Butler University, and the M.B.A. from Purdue University. He completed his rotating internship at Westview Hospital in Indianapolis, and his emergency medicine residency at Chicago Osteopathic Hospitals and Medical Centers. While maintaining active clinical practice he was involved in the clinical education of nursing, pharmacy, physician assistant, and osteopathic medical students. He is board-certified in both family practice and emergency medicine.
