The 2022 Indianapolis Rotary Foundation Community Grant guidelines have been posted. The Foundation intends to award two grants of $25,000 and two grants of $10,000.
The online grant application can be found here. Applications are due by June 20, 2022. Applicants must be 501(c)3 nonprofits who serve the charitable and educational needs of Central Indiana.

| Join us Tuesday to hear from Dr. Chuck Johnson the President of Vincennes University. Dr. Johnson was appointed the 22nd President of Vincennes University (VU) in 2015, after previously serving as Interim President. Johnson came to VU as Provost/Vice President for Instructional Services/Dean of Faculty and served in that capacity for three years. While at VU, Johnson has overseen the development and growth of VU’s work-based learning partnerships with industry, including the Toyota Advanced Maintenance Technician program, the Cummins Technical Apprenticeship program, the Amazon Apprenticeship program in Mechatronics and Automation and numerous others. Johnson has also been extensively involved in the expansion of VU’s Early College program, including the development of Career and Technical Education Early Colleges with Career Centers and Cooperatives across Indiana, reaching thousands of Hoosier students. Among the most recent initiatives spear-headed by Johnson has been the creation of the Center for Applied Robotics and Automation and the development of a network of collaborative robot (cobot) labs throughout Indiana, in partnership with Telamon Robotics. Johnson came to VU from spent Purdue University, West Lafayette, where he served in a variety of program director roles in the Krannert School of Management, overseeing internationally-ranked full-time, part-time, and Executive MBA, and master of science programs as well as Krannert’s executive education non-degree programs. His experience also includes consulting for the American University of the Middle East in Kuwait, which opened its doors in 2008. Before Purdue, Johnson was Manager of Training and Development for National City Bank, Northwest (now part of PNC), and held several positions in academic and student affairs at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Johnson serves as a member of the Governor’s Workforce Cabinet and as President of the Council on Accreditation of Two-Year Colleges. He serves as Secretary of the board for Knox County Indiana Economic Development and on the boards of the Regional Opportunity Initiatives and Vincennes University Foundation, and Talent 2025. Johnson is a representative to Conexus Indiana’s Advanced Manufacturing Council and recently completed a term as a Commissioner for the Midwest Higher Education Compact. A native of Washington, Indiana, Johnson earned a Ph.D. at Purdue University, an MBA from Bowling Green, and a B.S. in Economics from Indiana State University. He and his wife, Sarah (VU ’80), have two adult daughters and two grandchildren. All are welcome at Rotary programs. Rotary and Rotaract clubs bordering Ukraine have taken swift action to help over four million Ukrainian refugees since Russia invaded Ukraine five weeks ago.
Clubs in neighboring Poland, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, are coordinating efforts throughout the region to get the supplies needed by relief organizations and medial teams to care for over four million–mostly women and children—who have fled Ukraine. Ukraine had 62 Rotary clubs, six satellite clubs and 24 Rotaract clubs.
The International Rotary Foundation has created a funding channel that Rotarians can use to help, the Disaster Response Fund.

Contributions made before April 30 will be expedited into grants for water, food, shelter, medicine and clothing to agencies assisting refugees across Europe.

Over the last 30-plus years, Sport Graphics has developed into an enterprise that is a multifaceted provider of event signage and logistics support services. Sport Graphics is also the parent company to Section 127, a full-service creative agency located in downtown Indianapolis. The company’s commitment to excellence and on-time service has been rewarded with multiple new annual events and the enhancement of long-term relationships with existing clients. Frank remains active today in the business, along with his wife and three children. Frank is a graduate of Ball State University, where he once served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees’, a position he held for more than 10 years. He was awarded the Ball State President’s Medal of Distinction and honored as the Ball State Alumnus of the Year. Frank has served on several civic boards including the Indianapolis Zoo, 500 Festival, Peyback Foundation, Pacers Foundation, Warren Township School Board and the Community Health Network Foundation, in addition to actively participating annually in many charitable events. Frank has received acknowledgement for his civic support by former Indianapolis Mayors Stephen Goldsmith, Bart Peterson and Greg Ballard. | Join us on Tuesday to hear from Michael Leppert. Michael is a lecturer in the communications department at the Kelley School of Business. He is a graduate of the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs and has a Master of Science in Communication (MSC) from Northwestern University. He has published hundreds of columns in Indiana newspapers, his first book, Contrary to Popular Belief, in 2016. His first novel, Flipping the Circle, was published in November by Greenleaf Book Group. He makes regular appearances on Indianapolis radio and television political commentary programs. He is the former Executive Director of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission and spent two decades as a public affairs consultant. He began teaching at Indiana University in 2019 and will continue as an adjunct professor at the O’Neill School, teaching public law and government relations. All are welcome at Rotary programs. Alyssa, a graduate of Center Grove High School and Indiana University, returned to central Indiana as the newest meteorologist at FOX59 and CBS4 this past fall. Alyssa was a trailblazer at IU as the first person to create her own major in social media journalism. She continued her education at Mississippi State University for a master’s degree in meteorology. Alyssa previously worked in Lexington, Kentucky at ABC36, in Terre Haute at WTWO-TV and was a sideline report for the Big Ten Network. All are welcome at Rotary programs.
