A flash mob of more than 100 bike riders from 35 different Indianapolis companies came together today on Monument Circle to drop off nonperishable items for the Midwest Food Bank. The Orr Fellowship, Indy Hunger Network, Indy Do Day and the Elanco Enough Campaign rallied together to raise awareness that one in six Hoosiers are hungry and more than 80,000 children in the Indianapolis metro area suffer from hunger.
The group hopes to illustrate how we can all come together to make a difference and promote Indy Do Day using hashtags #circlinghunger and #indydoday. The Indy Hunger Network has registered 25 projects on the Indy Do Day website.

(Excerpt from The Indianapolis Recorder, March 24, 2011)
As a senior in high school, Angelique Walker wanted to get as far away from Cedarville and Springfield, Ohio, as she could manage. She went away to college at Kent State University, located 162 miles across the state.
It was not that the preacher’s kid was trying to ditch her beloved parents, Rev. Roosevelt and Geneva Walker, but the teenager was ready to make her own mark.
Having given her life to Christ at age 9, Walker started to feel a calling to the ministry while she was an undergraduate student at Kent State, but did not know that calling was toward the pulpit. Still, after graduating she was convinced that she should pursue graduate study at Yale University Divinity School, (YDS) where she earned a master’s of divinity degree. This also allowed her to join her future husband at Yale, R. Drew Smith, whom she met at Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Indianapolis as a youth during a visit from her home church in Springfield.
Did you miss this week’s program with Angela Buchman? No worries, we have the audio here!
Meteorologist Angela Buchman joined the SkyTrak 13 Weather Team in September 2013.
She is a 1990 graduate of Hamilton Southeastern High School. From Hamilton County, she went to Indiana University to pursue a degree in Business. This wasn’t her passion. The weather is her passion. At the urging of her parents, she called Chuck Lofton who advised her to change her major. She did and graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Atmospheric Science.
While in college, Angela worked at the National Weather Service in Indianapolis. Her first TV assignment was at WLFI-TV 18 in West Lafayette, Indiana. From there, she spent 4 years forecasting the weather in Sacramento, California.
She returned home to central Indiana in 2001 and her forecasting has earned her 5 Emmy awards.
Angela and her husband Mark have 2 children Luke and Grace. She loves them, central Indiana and the weather.

Over the years we have painted barns red, trimmed shrubbery, raked up stone in favor of mulch, planted flowers, picked up trash, cleaned up fence row and taken down old broken chain link fence. We even spent a couple rainy weekends painting the inside of one home!
Working on the east side of Indianapolis we did a lot of the above including rotor tilling down a mound of dirt on the front lawn from a broken water pipe so a lawn could be planted….we even did that! We even mulched around the big tree in the front yard. It was a morning well spent….we felt good and a lot dirty!!
Many thanks go out to all who participated: Jim Bernhardt, Zack Conner, Holly Dunn, Joe Gaafar, Jennifer Hobbs, Vern Hobbs (husband), Marie Koenig, Norm Melzer, Jim Narmore!
