  • Dec 16, Time for Three

    Registration Closed for this Event. On December 16, 2014 join ISO Artists-in-Residence Time for Three as they present selections from this year’s Yuletide Celebration with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

    Dubbed a “classically trained garage band,” Tf3 members Zach DePue, Nick Kendall and Ranaan Meyer perform many genres of music from Bach to Brahms to The Beatles and Katy Perry. Their award-winning residency with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra allows them to bring their unique style to audiences throughout central Indiana.

  • Rev. Dr. Carver McGriff, Annual Veteran’s Day Program

    Rotarian Kent Millard’s predecessor as pastor of Saint Luke’s United Methodist Church and an infantry veteran of the Normandy Invasion. Carver McGriff received a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. He spoke to Rotary in 2004 and possibly in 1988.

    In 2003 Carver McGriff received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, from which he earned his Master of Divinity degree “With Distinction” in 1962. McGriff also received the Kidder Prize at Garrett, awarded to the best student preacher in the graduating class.

    McGriff returned to Indiana to earn a degree in business administration from Butler University. In 1959, after ten years in the business sector, he entered Garrett Theological Seminary. Subsequently he served five years in an Indianapolis suburban church. He earned an MS at Christian Theological Seminary in 1965 and was recognized by that seminary in 1993 with their Distinguished Alumnus Award. In 1970 he received a Doctor of Divinity from Indiana Central University (now the University of Indianapolis).

    He served as senior pastor at Saint Luke’s United Methodist Church from 1967 to 1993. After retiring, or rather changing careers, he became an author with at least eight books to his credit, including Making Sense of Normandy: A Young Man’s Journey of Faith and War (2007). He continues to be active through writing, teaching, and leading study groups.

  • November 18 – Rotarian, Tonsing to be featured on No Limits

    Indianapolis Rotarian Betty Tonsing wrote a book on patient safety that stemmed from her husband’s tragic illness following a hospital infection. Stand in the Way! Patient Advocates Speak Out. On Tuesday, November 18, Betty Tonsing will be on No Limits, hosted by John Krull (WFYI, broadcast at 1 PM on 90.1 FM). Also featured will Dr. David Orentlicher, a physician and an attorney who is a professor at IU School of Medicine specializing in health law and issues.

  • Rotary International Foundation Month

    November is Rotary International Foundation Month Worldwide. Your Rotary Club of Indianapolis Rotary International Foundation Committee has weekly announcements scheduled throughout the month of November. We hope you will participate and attend Tuesday programs in November.

    Don’t miss our program on November 4! Floyd Lancia, Zone 30 Regional Foundation Coordinator will speak briefly. Tim Lee, State Regional Coordinator will also be in attendance. On November 14th, Past Indy Rotarian President and District Governor-Elect Mark Blade will speak on the Rotary International Foundation. On November 18th, Indy Rotarian Judge Tom Fisher will speak. And, on November 25 Indianapolis Indy Rotarian Bill Batt will speak. At each program, pledge cards will be made available and collected.

    Do you like Drumsticks? Turkey? Running in Broadripple before consuming thousands of unhealthy calories only hours later? Then, the Annual Drumstick Dash may be for you!

    As we’ve done in the past, we are assembling a group of Rotarians and friends to walk (or run) in the Annual Drumstick Dash this year! We are not doing a “group” registration, so please register here, then let us know if you’re participating by contacting Greg Albright or Lucia Carter.

    • Mail-in entry forms must be postmarked no later than Friday, November 21.

  • November 8, 2014: Unite and Ignite 5K Fun Run

    The Lawrence Township School Foundation will proudly host its 2nd Annual Unite & Ignite 5k Run. Come out and support Lawrence Township Schools while encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle in our community. The event is open to people of all ages from beginners to experienced runners. Register now to participate in this healthy and fun activity for the whole family.
