October 12: Dr. James Madison

Join us Tuesday to hear from Dr. James Madison who will be joining us via Zoom. We will still be meeting at Ivy Tech Culinary and Conference Center.

Dr. Madison is the Thomas and Kathryn Miller Professor Emeritus of History at Indiana University. An award-winning teacher, Jim has also taught at Hiroshima University in Japan and at the University of Kent in Canterbury, England. He is a trustee at the Indiana Historical Society and a was member of the Indiana Bicentennial Commission and served on the board with Indiana Humanities.
 
Jim is the author of several books, including Eli Lilly: A Life; Slinging Doughnuts for the Boys: An American Woman in World War II; Hoosiers: A New History of Indiana; and A Lynching in the Heartland: Race and Memory in America
 
His new book is The Ku Klux Klan in the Heartland.
 
Jim was honored by the Indiana Historical Society in 2016 as an Indiana Living Legend. The Midwestern History Association recently honored him with the Frederick Jackson Turner Lifetime Achievement Award.

All are welcome at Rotary programs. If attending in-person at Ivy Tech Culinary and Conference Center reservations and prepayment are appreciated, but not required.
