May 25: Karyn Smitson
Join us on Tuesday at Ivy Tech Culinary and Conference Center or on Zoom to hear from Karyn Smitson. Karyn is a leader who is passionate about bringing young talent to Indianapolis and then mentoring and developing these early career professionals.
Six years ago in spring 2015, Karyn joined Orr Fellowship as Executive Director – it’s very first hire. She has overall strategic and operational responsibility for the Fellowship’s members, programs, partner companies, schools, and other stakeholders.
Orr Fellowship is a nonprofit dedicated to helping exceptional, high-achieving college seniors land full-time jobs in the Indy area. Orr provides two years of programming and networking opportunities by night, as Fellows devote themselves to their careers at dynamic, forward-thinking, entrepreneurial-spirited companies of all types and sizes by day. There are currently about 120 Fellows working at 72 local partner companies with 81 new Fellows arriving in a few weeks.
Born in Columbus, Indiana and a proud IU Hoosier, Karyn’s past experience includes Director of Market Development at the Indianapolis Star, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, and a couple stints at ad agencies. She lives in Carmel with her husband and youngest of three sons.
All are welcome at Rotary programs. If attending in-person at Ivy Tech Culinary and Conference Center reservations and prepayment are required. Due to current guidelines only 50 seats are available. Register on Square at https://rotary-club-of-indianapolis.square.site/. Lunch will be available starting at 11:45 a.m. and the program runs 12:15 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.
